definite term of service from the 1st January, 1946. and as he is unaware of the proposal, both we and the Colonial Office would be grateful if you would despatch a telegram to the Ambassador, Baghdad on the lines of the attached draft.
We hope it will be possible to arrange for Colman to pay a short visit to the U.K. to discuss the matter; and the cost of his passage would by on H.M.G. account and, presumably, covered by the Colonial Office.
I am sending a copy of this letter to Gent of the Colonial Office.
